We are committed to continuously reducing the environmental impact of our products and operations. To meet the most advanced engine technologies that allow the reduction of atmospheric emissions, we remove most of the sulfur present in the composition of diesel and gasoline, and supply it as an input for various industrial processes.
More than 90% of the sulfur in the world is used in the production of sulfuric acid, the main purpose of which is the production of phosphate agricultural fertilizers.
Main applications of sulfur
- Fertilizer production.
- Wood dissolution in pulp production.
- Sugar whitening, ridding it of impurities.
- Rubber vulcanization, which increases the resistance of products, mainly tires.
- Formulation of insecticides and fungicides.
- Raw material for the pharmaceutical industry and hygiene and cleaning products, with emphasis on the formulation of biodegradable detergents.
- Feed supplement for livestock.
- Nickel ore leaching.
Petrobras Sulfur
Petrobras Sulfur is produced in liquid and solid forms, with high technology and quality, transforming the acid gas from the hydrodesulphurization units (HDT or HDS), responsible for the treatment of petroleum derivates for the production of fuels with ultra-low sulfur content (UTBE ).

How to acquire it
Petrobras Sulfur is sold by our exclusive distributor to resellers/processors that serve the industrial segments, which use it in various industrial processes.
Resellers can deliver it directly in liquid form and/or process the solid form, through sieving, to meet different grain sizes and/or produced in pellets and flakes. The processed product can be delivered in bulk or in 1 ton big-bags and bags of 5 to 50 kg.
