We produce SAF in Brazil from residual feedstocks
Produced at the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc), Petrobras SAF blends conventional aviation kerosene with a renewable fraction obtained from sustainable feedstocks. The result is a product chemically similar to JET A/A1, but with lower carbon intensity and the potential to reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 80% in the renewable portion.
This breakthrough is the result of integrating processes already mastered by Petrobras, utilizing conventional JET logistical and storage infrastructure — with no need for adaptations to aircraft or airport systems (or refueling infrastructure). This makes it a practical and immediate solution to reduce emissions in the aviation industry.
The evolution of fuel toward low-carbon aviation
More sustainable and aligned with international standards, Petrobras SAF fully complies with ANP Resolution and the ASTM D-1655 standard, ensuring performance, safety, and reliability. In addition, Petrobras SAF has obtained CORSIA sustainability certification.
It is a strategic fuel for modern aviation, contributing to global decarbonization goals without altering engines, turbines, or the logistics chain.
Main Benefits
- Emissions reduction: more than 80% reduction in CO₂ emissions in the renewable portion, due to the use of residual feedstocks.
- Full compatibility: meets JET A/A1 specifications and can be used in aircraft without any adaptation.
- Maintained infrastructure: uses the same storage, transport, and refueling systems as conventional JET.
- Quality assured: meets the requirements of the ANP Resolution and the ASTM D-1655 standard.
- Proof of Sustainability (PoS): CORSIA-certified, featuring GHG reduction quantification and feedstock traceability.
